What You Should Know
Your time with us is precious. Please take full advantage of your visit by arriving fifteen minutes prior to your appointment. This allows time for you to prepare and to speak with your therapist before treatment begins. Late arrivals may result in a shortened massage session.
Please remember to turn off all cell phones and pagers while in the spa.
Gratuities are not included in the price of services, but are graciously accepted by therapists. If you are pleased with the service provided, it is customary to provide your therapist with a gratuity. The industry ranges from 15% to 20% of the service fee.
Pax Massage accepts Visa, MasterCard, Discover or cash. Membership payment options are available via ACH transactions (Checking Account) or automated credit card.
All of our therapists have undergone extensive background checks and are professional, licensed, certified and insured.
Appointment and Cancellation Policy:
While walk-ins are welcome, making an appointment in advance will ensure we can accommodate your request. If you need to cancel an appointment or reschedule one, we require 24 hours notice. We understand that cancellations are sometimes unavoidable. Appointments cancelled in less than the required time may incur the full charge on your credit card. This applies for no-show appointments and those made and cancelled on the same day as well.
You can purchase Pax Massage gift certificates online or at the spa.
Guests 17 Years Old and Younger:
Guests age 15 to 17 years old must present written parental/guardian permission prior to a massage session and must be scheduled with a same gender massage therapist. You can find a copy of the permission slip here. Guests age 14 years old and under are required to be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times and must be scheduled with a same gender therapist.
What We Need to Know on Your First Visit:
Upon your initial visit to our spa, you will be asked to complete a brief Client Intake Form so that we are aware of any medical condition, past/present injuries, allergies and/or prescription medications and any other physical conditions we should be made aware of. This information is required for three reasons:
- So the massage therapist can ensure there aren’t any conditions present that rule out a massage due to any health risks.
- The massage therapist needs to know what your needs are regarding the massage so that both of you are clear about what your expectations and goals are for the session.
- The information you provide helps the massage therapist determine what massage techniques to use and how to structure the session.
Your massage therapist will greet you and review the Client Intake Form with you. They will ask why you are coming in for a massage, your current physical condition and any specific areas in which you are experiencing pain or would like addressed during your massage.
Please keep your therapist informed of any changes on subsequent visits.
We may also gather contact information so that we can make you aware of any specials and events we think will be of interest to you. Your information is confidential and is not shared with any third parties.
What You Need to Know During Treatment:
Your massage therapist will take you to a peaceful treatment room that has a comfortable massage table dressed with clean sheets and a warming blanket for your comfort. There will be a small area in the room for your personal belongings. Your massage therapist will leave the room and wait outside while you disrobe to your level of comfort and lie on the massage table under the top sheet. Some people prefer to be completely undressed, while others prefer to keep their undergarments on – please undress to your level of comfort as you are the client and your comfort comes first. Our therapists are trained to work with you in all situations. Your massage therapist will knock on the door after a few minutes to ask if you are ready before they enter the room.
We have standard draping techniques that require you to always be draped with the top sheet during your massage session, and an additional blanket is available at your request. Your therapist will only uncover the part of the body they are working on, and your modesty is respected at all times. There will be relaxing music playing during your massage and the room will be calm, serene, and relaxing with no outside distractions.
Your Comfort is Our Priority:
If anything should interfere with your comfort or relaxation, we encourage our guests to speak up, whether it is the temperature in the room or the pressure of the massage. Our massage therapists are eager to cater to your needs, so please don’t hesitate to notify us of any discomfort.
Some people are more comfortable receiving a massage from a person of the same gender, and some from a person of the opposite gender. While no professional wants their services refused based on gender, they also realize that if you are nervous or uncomfortable about who is giving you the massage, you will not relax and enjoy the benefits of your massage. Please feel free to request whichever gender you prefer for your massage when booking your appointment.
